Mr. Ji Zhenhua is a world renowned performer in Kunqu. He is the primary artist in the Shanghai Kungu Troupe for his role. He learned his craft from Zhen Chunjian, one of the masters of the last generation, in Shanghai between 1954 and 1961. He is regarded by the Chinese government as one of the "living national treasures". He has participated in cultural exchange programs between China and various other countries. As part of the programs, he has given demonstrations, performances, and taught courses on the art of Kunqu. "Lanke Shan" is one of the plays that he often performs, having performed it for both recording on video and live on television.
